Heavy rains and a king tide combined forces in Seattle in 2023 causing the Duwamish River to rise suddenly spilling into neighborhoods along the shoreline. these neighborhoods are in a heavily industrial area and are home to many lower income families. The water left homes unlivable and residents struggling with questions about the future. Getting saturated materials out of the homes quickly was critical to mitigate the development and spread of molds and other toxins.
