Hurricane Beryl made landfall in Texas on June 8, 2024 as a category-1 storm. In addition to home, business, and infrastructure damage Beryl left thousands of trees toppled. The Southern Live Oak is a large heavy tree and throughout the storm's path they lay scattered across roads, and on homes. It created a safety issue with the affected homes and limited access to affected areas by blocking roads and other routes. Team Rubicon sent volunteer chain saw teams to Lake Jackson were the impact was significant. They spent several weeks clearing trees, opening access, returning residents to homes.
