Hurricanes Laura & Delta
Louisiana, 2020
Recovering from an event like a Category-4 hurricane is a years long process. In August of 2020 Hurricane Laura roared through Louisiana. Over the next month recovery efforts took shape slowly. This storm landed in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic and aid organizations were struggling to get people and resources on the ground. A short six weeks later, just as the blue roof tarps began to checker the landscape, another hurricane, Delta, made landfall in almost the exact same location. Delta brought torrential rains and removed many of the temporary roof repairs before hand. It was devastating for communities that were still trying to develop long term plans from Laura.
