Cyclone Freddy
Malawi, 2023

Cyclone Freddy brought months worth of rain to southern Malawi in just hours. Massive flooding followed and the waters expedited outbreaks of cholera and malaria. Hundreds of thousands of villages were displaced and hundreds lost theirs lives. The water rose in Lake Chilwa to levels that caused flooding almost a kilometer inland destroying coastal villages, clean water sources, and crops. Jamie was embedded with both a Type-1 Mobile Medical Team and a Water Hygiene  and Sanitation (WASH) team in the Zomba District adjacent to Lake Chilwa.
