Hurricane Melissa
Jamaica, 2025
When hurricane Melissa made landfall on the western half of Jamaica it ravaged the island with stunning intensity. It was the most powerful storm ever recorded on the Caribbean island nation. Melissa destroyed entire communities and left thousands unhoused and without the resources needed for day-to-day life. Aid groups responded with a spectrum of capabilities. Jamie was embedded with a response organization for a month in the immediate aftermath providing both medical and temporary school repairs along the southwest coast.
