Jamaica
On October 28, 2025 Hurricane Melissa made landfall in western Jamaica and was the most powerful storm ever recorded on the island nation. The Category 5 storm packed 185 mph sustained winds, 250 mph gusts, and storm surges that reached 13 feet.

Much of the western half of Jamaica was devastated leaving Jamaicans with little food, clean water, or shelter.

In the aftermath, a number of NGOs poured into the country. Jamie landed in country three days after landfall with a medical team from Team Rubicon. He spent the next month embedded with them as well as a another capability from Team Rubicon charged with route clearance, debris removal, and roof tarping at schools in Westmoreland Parish.

The teams partnered with the Jamaican Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education and Youth, as well as the Sandals Foundation who sponsor a number of schools in the area.

When Jamie left on November 29, 2025 Team Rubicon had treated over 1,000 patients, and impacted over 1,100 students and their families. New teams rotated in to continue the work.
